A First-Timer's Guide to Visiting a Thai Spa in Phuket

Visiting a Thai spa for the first time? Relax — it is easier than you think. Here is a friendly guide to help you feel comfortable and get the most from your treatment at Niyama Spa & Wellness in Cherngtalay, Phuket.

Arrive a Little Early

Try to arrive 10–15 minutes before your appointment. This gives you time to enjoy a welcome drink, fill in a short health form, and let your therapist know about any preferences or areas to focus on or avoid.

What Should You Wear?

Wear something comfortable. For Thai massage you stay clothed, and we provide loose spa garments. For oil massages and body treatments, you will be given disposable underwear and will always be respectfully draped with towels.

Tell Your Therapist What You Like

Pressure is personal. If you prefer it lighter or firmer, just say so — at any point during the treatment. A good spa wants your feedback so the massage feels right for you.

Tipping and Etiquette

  • Phones on silent — the spa is a quiet, restful space.

  • Tipping is appreciated but not required; 50–200 THB is common for great service.

  • Avoid heavy meals and alcohol right before your treatment.

  • Drink water afterwards to feel refreshed.
