The classic Western massage, done properly. Swedish Massage is all rhythm and variety – long gliding strokes, kneading, rolling and light, lively tapping – with scented oil and medium pressure that relaxes you without sending you to sleep. If an aromatherapy massage is a lullaby, Swedish is a favourite song: soothing, but with enough energy to leave you feeling awake and refreshed afterwards. How your session unfolds • Back and shoulders. Long warming strokes, then thumb circles along the muscles beside the spine, kneading through the waist and shoulders, and a brisk round of tapping and cupping to wake the muscles up. • Legs and feet. Gliding and kneading from ankle to thigh, with pressure points on the soles. • Abdomen, arms and hands. Gentle clockwise strokes on the stomach, then every muscle of the arm down to the fingertips. • Chest, shoulders, face and head. A calm finish with pressure points on the face and a head massage.
